The ‘de KISS moves FUSION Dance Theatre Company’ was founded by Dorottya Eva Kiss, established in 2005 in Amsterdam and had been operating since 2006 as an official non-profit arts organization.
The first audition took place on the 8th of November 2005 and since then, DKM opened new doors towards merging different genres within dance and music and often based its conceptual themes on scientific research.
From updating classical masterpieces such as Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, Vivaldi's Four seasons and Bach Cello suites, merging those with edgy dubstep and house music, to electric and classical fusion music- with amazing composers- with psychological, philosophical and societal relevant themes at the core
- all related to human existence and the 'why behind it'-
all in all, belonged to a repertoire of the new era of dance theatre at that time.
Life - thus 'dancing through life'- is about growth, sharing and (learning to-, and about) love (in the narrowest and broadest sense)...about human sustainability...and this can only be done from multiple perspectives...
And so did our company values emerge…
A way of living and a method for working -both on and off stage-. Open-mindedness, respect, creativity,
continuity and quality above quantity…

"WHO MADE THIS DREAM
OF A 4-YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRL, BECOME REALITY"
The dancers and crew came from diverging fields, representing the multidimensional world we live in, simultaneously creating a brand-new whole within this fragmented (dance art) world. From different countries and cultures, a wide range of dance techniques and music genres were merged, from classical, to urban, contemporary, modern, jazz, folk and ballroom at the core. Improvisation techniques and floor-work became of essence, with a new philosophy, method and life attitude being born.
Proud of all this and believe in FUSION dance theatre, the multidisciplinary concept that emerged from this, and extremely grateful to the group of individuals who helped to create a dream and made it reality...

"QUALITY ABOVE QUANTITY
AND STILL, WE MADE QUANTITY ALSO A REALITY"
Between 2007-2016, the company was connected to Theater de Meervaart as its ‘home-company’ with Amsterdam as a base. The company cooperated with Frontaal Theaterbureau and at a later stage, with IMPACT Entertainment as its impresario, agent.
After a two-year (2005-2007) startup period DKM started to grow and managed to realize some considerably big achievements compared to its relatively small size and young reputation within the Dutch dance theatre scene. During its 11+ years of existence DKM had 12 premieres, 11 long-running Dutch National Tours, created 24+ new dance theatre performances, performed far more than 800 times, visited China as a closure for Guangzhou Dance Festival, gave more than 500 educational workshops all around the Netherlands and abroad, and worked with more than 250 artists from around the world (from which 50% non-Dutch). The estimated amount of audience that ‘de KISS moves’ attracted within its +- 11-year period is +500.000 people.
TV appearance resulted in an audience of 2 million. DKM had a challenging position being a project based company (with minimal cents in its pocket), nevertheless was the first FUSION dance theatre company of the Netherlands with the youngest director that managed to keep the company operating for 11+ years.

"WE BUILD AND CREATE"
After a close to 3-year time-out, 2019-20 represents a restart...Different stages, diverse perspectives, new type of depths and connections and expressions to emerge...
The time is ripe. DKM will be on stage, in the studio, on paper, online...Welcome to a 'new stage'...a new era...all will be fine...

TRANSITIONS
IN TRANSITION NOW...
“At the core, “sameness” remains as growth starts to EXPAND”. We learn and we grow (hopefully) as time passes.
Change is the only constant in life...So perhaps that is the reason I have never written a “goodbye’ letter after out “last” 10-year jubilee tour in 2016...when I stopped, there was no goodbye...just a serious readjustment – reevaluation and thus a healthy time-out...I moved away...moved on...NOW, work continues without the need, the must and the urge to prove & ‘survive’...rather to share, give, flow, grow with openness and most importantly to MOVE with love...and perhaps a new perspective is being born within...

Thus, DKM will continue to MOVE in the broadest sense...just perhaps a bit differently than before...I invite you to a world where perhaps no-, or at least less expectations will create a flow of artistic (I like the word creative more) / scientific, and most importantly, human development related activities which we are all part of in some way...
...that are all related to MOVEMENT...

BELIEFS & MOTIVATION
The initial - and current- motivation was (is),
to move out of - the by society and the art world dictated- rigid and hierarchical embedded box of judgmental and static thinking about the '(art of) life'.
Life, dance, human existence is multidimensional, thus it cannot be understood nor studied through one specific filter.
Consequently, multidisciplinary and a multidimensional open approach, sciences, spirituality, arts & creativity, NLP expressed by diverging dance, music genres and their creators (dancers & crew all from different cultural, economic, societal and spiritual backgrounds for ex.), became the focus and an inherently rich core, while creating an eclectic whole within a fragmented rigid hierarchical system.
